I think that the shallow depth of field photo was better because it's focusing on just one thing and it looks cooler.
Why would you want to use a shallow depth of field?
You would want to use a shallow depth of field when you want to focus on one object rather then the whole picture.
When/in what situation would a large depth of field be better?
If you wanted the whole picture to be clear and in focus, large depth of field would be better.
